I don't know if there is a Debian packge for it, but look for the > program called "bladeenc," it's free and considered one of the better > mp3 encoders. Another decent encoder is 8hz-mp3, at www.8hz.com. bladeenc is good, its a shame about 8hz-mp3, they got yelled at about patent infringements or some such, and had to remove the program from their site ..
