Here's how I have the drives on *this* machine setup:

Since this is a fairly complete Debian installation, I'd recommend no less than 48MB
for root.
This system would be at 95% capacity in such a situation. Wouldn't want it to be
much lower.
I have recently heard that the latest version of Partition Magic can handle
e2fs/Linux partitions.
Iff that's the case then picking a *ideal* size becomes less critical.
