Staroffice and tilde.

Hello,

I give up asking help in the staroffice support list. I hope some one here at
Debian users can give a light! 

I have installed SO5.0 but my tilde accent (as dead key) is not working. All
other accents are working well. Tilde is works under other X applications that
understand XKBExtensions.

I have installed the English version. Should I get some latin language
version instead (like French)?

Is there anyone having this kind of problem (there is a Spanish version, there
isn't?)
