Use the host.domain format.

Edit /etc/hosts

find /etc/ -type f | xargs grep virge

will find other files containing the hostname. Edit them as well.

A suboptimal solution would be to make the mailsystem masquerade as
another host. For smail this would be visible_name=the-isp.com in
/etc/smail/config.
