Since I come from Australia it's rather a familar story. There is nothing
wrong with importing Crytographic programs from overseas as far as I know
but it's illegal to export cryptographic material from the US in
electronic form. That's why there are 2 versions of software such as PGP.
Currently what PGP do is they have the source printed and then they send
it off to Europe where it's then OCR scanned, and the vola you then have
the new international version of PGP. I've never heard anything to suggest
it was illegal for anyone in America to use an international version of
that software.
