I just installed x11amp yesterday on my slink system. To get all the gtk
1.1 stuff to work, I decided it would be much easier to build the gtk and
glib stuff locally as well. So I did, and installed them in /usr/local/.
x11amp built with no troubles, and runs just fine.
Just remember that after you've installed glib and gtk, run ldconfig. I
didn't think to do that at first since most libs that I install go through
dselect, and the postinst scripts run ldconfig for me. You'll also need
to set GLIB_CONFIG and GTK_CONFIG to /usr/local/bin/glib-config and
/usr/local/bin/gtk-config, respectively (there might be typeos
there...x11amp's configure script will give you the correct info, in any
case).
