I'm using 2.0.36 on Hamm and didn't recognize any problems because
of this.

add:
 image=/vmlinuz.old
 root=<your root device>
 label=linux.old
 optional
to your lilo.conf

If you compile your kernel with 'kernel-package' and install the
new kernel-image-2.0.36 it will create a new symlink /vmlinuz.old to
your old /boot/vmlinuz-2.0.34 and the symlink /vmlinuz will point to 
/boot/vmlinuz-2.0.36.
