KDE quirks

Well, I finally managed to get the KDE environment to come up when I start
kdm. My problem was that in the startkde script, it didn't have the full path
to the program, so the programs just never started. When I put the full path
in the script file, things work fine.

Well, almost fine.

1) When I start kdm and it brings up the KDE desktop, everything starts fine,
but I'm unable to run KDE apps by clicking on their icons on the toolbar or by
selecting them from the menu. Other apps (emacs) work fine. If I bring KDE
up by using startx instead, things work great. I'm assuming this is a problem
with my $PATH, but not sure where or how to fix it.

2) When I bring windows up under KDE - they often are too big for the window,
and I'm constantly having to resize or maximize them so I can see the bottom
row of buttons. I have my display set up at 640x480 and the virtual desktop
is the same size, so what's up here? Can I fix that?

3) I guess I need to run X under 16bit instead of 24bit to get WP icons to
display properly, but other apps don't seem to have a problem with 24bit. Is
there a way to get just WP to run in 16bit mode?

Thanks for all your help, especially to you Noah...

Jay
