 In general, the scripts located in /etc/rc.d/init.d on Redhat are
 in /etc/init.d on Debian.  Both are sysv-based, so there is not
 a radical difference like you will find with BSD-based systems like

 They will mostly be the same.  Debian adheres to the FSSTD, although
 soon will switch to the FHS for a directory/file location standard.
 So, Debian will differ from Redhat only in places where Redhat diverges
 from the standard.

 As soon as all GNU/Linux users switch to Debian, we will have a standard
 Linux.  So, yes... we are working on this. ;)
