If you are used to FramMaker from Adobe, LyX is not too difficult to
learn. It has things liek styles that are applied to paragraphs, it can
orgainize into chapters and books. Think of LyX as a free FramMaker that
uses LaTeX but keeps the user insulated from the LaTeX though you can
still embed LaTeX directly if you like.
