This is exactly what I did with the _two_ 3C509b cards on my bo system.
Works fine. For the second card I added the "ether" parameter to lilo:

append = "reboot=c ether=0,0,eth1"

(reboot=c might be the default now; I don't know. Without it, my
soundcard would hang the bootup. Not that I reboot very often.)
