Recently I installed a rpm based system (SuSE 5.3) just to test it and noticed that rpm is much faster while accessing its database, it seems to use a binary database instead of the text-based and a-lot-of-files approach of dpkg. Are they any plans to improve the speed of dpkg for database operation, such as searching a file, listing the contents of a package? Torsten
