dpkg sort of broken?

Hi,
Many packages I install lately give errors about "/usr/sbin/install-info".....
Apparantly this file belongs to dpkg, so I try to reinstall dpkg, and get the
same sort of thing..... Any ideas?
Thanks,
Timothy
