printer not spooling
It seems that I need to get a direct connection to print on the
networked printer.
I'm (supposedly) running my own printter spool. However, if there is
already a connection to the printer, including a document printing from
my machine, I get a
connection to '<printername>' failed--Connection refused.
job '<jobno> transfer to raw@printeradresss failed.
This worked until a reinstall a few days ago.
Again, my first document prints, but lpq and subsequent prints don't.
(there is also a university spool talking to this printer, which can
cause these collisons).
my printcap is
lp|name:\
:lp=/dev/null:sh:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\
:rm=thefullname:rp=raw:
where the actual names are used instead.
I'm printing postscript files; so far I haven't even tried to set up
magic filter (i tried & failed a while back).
