DOCUMENTATION: Tutorial/FAQ for APT?

Can a Debian Guru lend some assistance?

I have been looking for comprehesive information on Debian APT, and
found almost nothing.  I am interested in a tutorial, both as a
dselect method and as a standalone.

I understand that an Apt command-line and gui client are available. 
Are these in Slink?
