How to send mail with POP/sendmail?
Hi,
I am trying to send (and receive) mail from a Mac using Eudora (a mail
program which talks POP to a POP server). Receiving works fine, but I have
trouble sending, only sending mails to user@localhost works. I get the
following in the syslog from sendmail for one of the failed attempts to
send a mail:
Sep 17 17:01:39 persil tcplogd: smtp connection attempt from
unknown@bbrmac1.lbl.gov [128.3.5.53]
Sep 17 17:01:39 persil sendmail[2062]: RAA02062: ruleset=check_rcpt,
arg1=<skluth@lbl.gov>, relay=bbrmac1.lbl.gov [128.3.5.53], reject=550
<skluth@lbl.gov>... Relaying denied
Eudora on the Mac tells me that SMTP server does not accept the address
"skluth@lbl.gov".
I had a look at the "ruleset=check_rcpt" in /etc/mail/sendmail.cf, but I
can't make head or tail of it.
I am using a debian2 system which is kept up to date. It answers this to
uname -a:
Linux persil 2.0.35 #1 Fri Aug 28 01:52:08 PDT 1998 i686 unknown
Every hint is appreciated! cheers, Stefan
