The syntax is right - the problem is that /dos does not exist.

You logged in as root and were put in the directory /root, which is
root's home directory.  You said `mkdir dos' rather than `mkdir /dos',
so you actually created /root/dos.

Do `mv /root/dos /dos' and do the mount again.
