Urgent, please ! (was: HELP: Setting up TeTeX)
Hi,
I've reinstalled the TeTeX packages (Debian 1.3.1) and have
noticed that 'dselect' seems to be facing the same problem
I'm facing: no way to locate "language.dat", "*.fmt" and
"modes.mf" files.
I've browsed the TeTeX docs and the Configuration HOWTO.
According to what I've read, I set the TEXMF variable to
"/usr/lib/texmf", then I ran 'texconfig init' == (NOTHING && NOTHING)!
Running 'texconfig' also failed; no way to customize an
obviously __broken__ installation.
Running "kpsetool -p fmt" indicates that the search paths are
":/web2c"which is obviously wrong since "web2c" is located in
/usr/lib/texmf/tex/web2c" if I remember correctly ! Any way there's no
{latex, plain, tex}.fmt files !! :-/
What should I do ?! Any tip is welcome !
Thanx in advance, Max
