Debian 2.0, though not released officially, is very stable. Upgrading is
not as easy as just updating a couple of packages, because you are
upgrading your whole system at once. Nevertheless, it can be done safely
and while running multi-user (no rebooting with a rescue floppy or
*shudder* repartitioning your disks), if you do it the right way.
Look for the upgrade-HOWTO or wait a few days for the official Hamm beta
to be announced. The announcement will have pointers to upgrade
documentation.
Cheers,
Joost
Note: when you upgrade a smail that runs from inetd, check /etc/inetd.conf
and look if still has a line for smtp. Smail has recently had a habit of
leaving it commented out or even removing the line altogether.
