    Personally, I'd recommend icewm.  It is small, fast, flexible enough for
my needs and doesn't hog the colormap like some other WMs tend to do. 
Important on the 256 color displays, like mine.  And just to let you know
what WMs I've looked at, here they are in no particular order, direct from my
.xinitrc file.  ;)
