No, you must first upgrade libc5.

The full instructions are in the libc5-libc6 mini HOWTO, currently to be
found in Developers' Corner at hhtp://www.debian.org.  

You can also use autoup.sh (same location) to do the process automatically.
(If you download by ftp, get the packages first.)
