Losing the lp1 device...

Hi all,

For some reason my debian box keeps dropping communication with my
printer, and lpq returns the error "Device /dev/lp1 unknown or
address invalid".  If I restart and send something to the printer from dos
(or windoze), then go back to linux everything is fine again (for a
while).

Any ideas what is causing this?
