1) I also run into problems with the postscript that acroread produces. My gs
version is 3.33.
2) gs-aladin is in non-free.
I have tried xpdf (with the included pdftops) version 0.6, which is declared
as beta. It did not worked for me. Perhaps you will have more luck. Maybee
there is a new version.
