qpopper/possible SYN flood???

I'm getting warning messages from qpopper 2.2 about a possible SYN flood..
what is a SYN flood? ...I've never received these messages before... is
there something wrong w/ qpopper?

I don't know if this is related, but I'm also getting network
collisions...

          TX packets:4103 error:0 dropped:0 over:0 carrier:0 coll:168
          Interrupt:9 Base address:0x340

(I'm using ip masquerading from eth0 to eth1)

..all of these errors started occurring after a fresh installation (hamm).

What is wrong? Thanks

Paul
