Are you sure that was 5.03, on slackware? Really? I'd say it was 4.03.
Anyway, chances are, that anyone who sells Slackware CD's with gs-aladdin 4.03
on it gets sued (read the copyright on gs-aladdin), so that's the reason
it doesn't get included with debian: it's non-free.

That also gives you the clue as to where to find gs-aladdin 4.03: in
debian's non-free section.

Yes, I know I should package up gs-aladdin 5.0x for debian (I'm the Debian
maintainer), but I haven't had time so far.

Not yet available. However, just getting the sources, and compiling for
yourself shouldn't be too hard, I guess.
