I do the following:

dpkg --purge --force depends perl
dpkg --purge --force depends --force remove-essential perl-base

dpkg -i perl-base_5.004.04-3.deb
dpkg -i perl_5.004.04-3.deb

no errors up to here at all

adduser
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Hmmm... Dunno anymore... doing dpkg -i --force downgrade
pel_5.003-summin fixes the core dump, but of course leaves misc
dependancies lying around, and might have security problems...

Cheers
Neilen
