Hi Scott,

This worked for me (I tried other ways and this was the only way):

Ctrl-Alt-F2  (from within X, to get to VC2)  ..then login..

startx -- :1  (this starts a new x-server on VC8)

Ctrl-Alt-F7   (to get back to the original X-server on VC7)
