/etc/deliver directory is corrupted.

My /etc/deliver file seems corrupted:

br-sr-xr-T   1 10355    30496     49,  53 Jul  4  1991 deliver

I see that Debian creates this directory in
/var/lib/dpkg/info/deliver.postinst :

 test -d /etc/deliver || mkdir /etc/deliver
 chown 0.0 /etc/deliver
 chmod 755 /etc/deliver

and the deliver man page specifies:

       /etc/deliver/sys      system delivery file
       /etc/deliver/post     post-user delivery file
       /etc/deliver/err      error delivery file

If I can manage to delete the undeletable file, do I simply recreate the
directory? The system appears to run fine without it. I get my mail as
usual.
