dftp out through a firewall

On our site a new firewall has been installed and now inorder to ftp it
is necessary to do the following

root@s1:~# ftp 194.248.7.3
Connected to 194.248.7.3.
220 WinProxy FTP Gateway ready, enter username@host[:port]
Name (194.248.7.3:root):

Then I can type my 'anonymous@ftp.debian.org'

I cannot figure out how to overcome this hurdle when I use dftp as it
is not expecting a Proxy promt.

Any ideas?

(Please, no comments about the fact the proxy is running under Windows
NT ! - I know what you all must be thinking !)
