  Locale es_ES has Latin-1 character set as default?  If so, just
do a 'unsetenv LC_CTYPE', the LANG variable will see to that the
LC_CTYPE is set properly.

  But I think changing "ISO_8859_1" to "iso_8859_1" would do the
trick.
