xconsole

For some reason, I'm getting this error message from xdm when I run
xconsole.  I only get a segmentation fault when it runs from xdm, it works
fine when ran after a user logs on...

/etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup_0: line 8:   234 Segmentation fault      xconsole
 -geometry 480x130-0-0 -daemon -notify -verbose -fn fixed -exitOnFail
 -file /dev/xconsole

How can I fix this?
