StarOffice - unable to launch appli

First pb : we must go to staroffice dir in order to start appli, we
cannot use symbolic links ?
Second pb, important !!! I cannot launch appli because it says that it
cannot connect to xprinter, and it asks me to set the XPPATH env var.
How can I do this ? I use linux debian 1.3.1 and my printer is connect
to /dev/lp1 (lpt2 under dos ?)
