In Debian, the package is called "shellutils".
The proper solution, however, is to upgrade to Debian 1.3. Just run
'dselect', and use the [A]ccess menu to point it via FTP to your
favorite debian mirror site.
1.3 is nicenice stuff. Once you upgrade, many many other problems will
go away. :)
