Hello

    after some people telling that the new version of netscape (version 4.01
    beta 5) has quite a stable status, I took the time for a download of 9MB.

    But I can't follow these statements. Netscape crashes every minute twice
    with a bus error. The configuration I have is a debian 1.2.xx system
    with:

Winona:~:1> ldd /usr/local/netscape/netscape
	libXt.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6
	libSM.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libSM.so.6
	libICE.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libICE.so.6
	libXmu.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXmu.so.6
	libXpm.so.4 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so.4
	libXext.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.so.6
	libX11.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6
	libdl.so.1 => /lib/libdl.so.1
	libc.so.5 => /lib/libc.so.5
	libg++.so.27 => /usr/lib/libg++.so.27
	libstdc++.so.27 => /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.27
	libm.so.5 => /lib/libm.so.5
Winona:~:1> ls -al `ldd /usr/local/netscape/netscape.bin | cut '-d>' -f 2` |cut --bytes=56-
/lib/libc.so.5 -> libc.so.5.4.23*
/lib/libdl.so.1 -> libdl.so.1.8.10*
/lib/libm.so.5 -> libm.so.5.0.8*
/usr/X11R6/lib/libICE.so.6 -> libICE.so.6.0*
/usr/X11R6/lib/libSM.so.6 -> libSM.so.6.0*
/usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 -> libX11.so.6.1*
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.so.6 -> libXext.so.6.1*
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXmu.so.6 -> libXmu.so.6.0*
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so.4 -> libXpm.so.4.7*
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6 -> libXt.so.6.0*
/usr/lib/libg++.so.27 -> libg++.so.27.2.1*
/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.27 -> libstdc++.so.27.2.1*
Winona:~:1>

    I tried the old workaround of the libXpm problem that I still had to use
    with 4.0b5, but with rather the same results. Starting netscape and the
    first click on lower right icon for opening a mail box makes a new window
    appear with an immediately crash afterwards.

    So what special versions of libs are you using??

             Peter
