Sounds like you need to recreate the filesystem on the SCSI disk, and do
a badblock check.. I had a Quantum Empire drive that was giving me
problems like this ... I created a filesystem and ran a bad block check,
and I haven't seen a media error since.  Doing the bad blocks check on a
2 gig drive and an adaptec 2940W took nearly 12 hours on a P90 ... I'm
not sure if that's because the Adaptec is pedantic about errors, or
what.  At any rate, it might be worth trying for you ... and if the SCSI
drive is under warranty, replace it!
