Not necesserily.  You may install them as follows in /etc/aliases

	joey:		joey@vnet
	wuschel:	wuschel@vnet
	...

Simply add the following line to /etc/smail/config:

	more_hostnames=vnet.dn

This makes hicks think it is vnet, too.  Mail will be accepted.
