Reinstalling DOS causes DOS to rewrite the master boot record. What
you've seen is completely normal. In order to give Lilo control of the
boot process, you need to rerun /sbin/lilo as root. This will apply the
contents of your /etc/lilo.conf file to the boot sector of your hard
drive.
