SAMBA cannot connect with WIN NT 4.0 WORKSTATIO
SAMBA version 1.9.16p9 (with and without des extension)
My linux server is able to connect with WINDOWS 95.
My NT WORKSTATION can connect with WINDOWS 95
My NT machine can print through net in Linux machine
this means that the network setup of linux and WINDOWS NT are correct,
but On network neighborhood (on NT) I do not see my linux machine.
In fact when I type on NT shell:
net view \\linuxmachine
I get
System error 53 has occurred.
The network path was not found
I get the same error
when I use the IP number instead of the name I get the same error
in fact when I use and IP number I get the same error
My smb.conf has the following:
printing = bsd
printcap name = /etc/printcap
load printers = yes
guest account = nobody
# invalid users = root
# encrypt passwords = yes (used with DES only)
workgroup = DROR
security = user # (I tried share it did not have a difference)
On NT 4.0 Workstation I have the following protocols enabled
NetBEUI, NWLink NetBIOS, NWLink IPX/SPX Compatible transport
and TCP/IP
The following services are enabled,
Computer Browser, TCP/IP printing, NetBIOS interface,, remote access services
RFC configuration, simple TCP/IP, server, workstation
I would appreciate any help?
How can I debug this problem?
-Thanks
Oz
