First your 'subject:' says (p)ost, tin's post command is 'w', are you 
using that?

Assuming you are using the correct command, after entering in the 
subject, tin creates the temporary file ~/.article using vi.  If vi is 
not available, then you get a symptom like you describe.  You can set the 
editor of your choice using the EDITOR environment variable.  For 
example, to use the editor pico (comes with mailer pine), enter 'setenv 
EDITOR pico' at your prompt.  Then start tin.
