EtherExpress PRO -- help?

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I've recently successfully installed R6 on my production unit -- a big
hearty "great job!" goes to all developers out there.
OK, enough of that, let's get down to the point. 8^) I have installed
Debian on my production machine at work (gutsy move, I must admit). Anyway,
I'd like to be able to get to my network, but as of now, that seems to be
impossible. I have a Compaq LTE Elite 4/75CX docked in a SmartStation,
which has a built-in EtherExpress PRO adapter. I've done a little homework
and found out that eexpress is semi-supported, but not eexpress PRO. This
is very disappointing to me because I'd really like to use Debian more
heavily on my production machine, but that won't be feasible without a
network connection.
I would be willing to volunteer to make an eexpress PRO driver; however,
I don't know the first thing about writing a device driver of any sort. I
am a fairly competent C/C++/some ASM programmer, but have never done
anything like a device driver. Is there anyone out there who would be
willing to write the driver for all of us poor lame souls out there who are
stuck with the eexpress PRO? Oh, the other catch is that I can't use any
other network adapter. 8^( I take that back, I can use Xircom PE3, but we
all know that song... If anyone out there would like to volunteer to write
the driver, I would be more than happy to do anything possible to help out.
I would be happy to test, give feedback, provide any hardware information
about the card that I can find, etc. I, among others I'm sure, would
*greatly* appreciate it. Can anyone help?
