psdatabase is responsible for the WCHAN column of the output of "ps
-l", so your system will boot. Without psdatabase, you will get
numbers in this column instead of routine names. If you have compiled
your own kernel, then "psupdate /usr/src/linux/vmlinux" should work
(if /usr/src/linux/vmlinux still exists). I guess the distributed
version is on the boot disk. Hope this is useful.
