HELP.. What local bus scsi

I am looking into getting a local bus SCSI controller.. I just purchased a
LB SCSI it is based on the Adaptec 1520 chip.. Linux does not recognize any
scsi hosts when I try to boot, I don't know enough to go playing around with 
things. But if anyone know of a fix I would rather do that than buy a new
controller.... But, if not what LB SCSI controller should I get that is a 
reasonable price.. Please respond ASAP especially if you have the 
directions for a fix for me.. Thanks
