Atheros 5212 modulo ath5k

Estoy tratando de hacer funcionar una placa PCI Netgear WPN511con chipset
atheros AR5212/AR5213 en debian sid con kernel 3.2.0-1-686-pae

#lspci -nn
07:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5212/AR5213
Wireless Network Adapter [168c:0013] (rev 01)

#lsmod | grep ath
ath5k                 115240  0
ath                    17114  1 ath5k
mac80211              171390  1 ath5k
cfg80211              117454  5 ath5k,ath,mac80211,ipw2200,libipw

La placa es reconocida normalmente,el modulo ath5k se carga en automatico, el
asunto es que no se asocia a ningun AP,escanea las redes dando la siguiente
salida :
#iwlist wlan0 scan

Address: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
                    Channel:6
                    Frequency:2.437 GHz (Channel 6)
                    Quality=89/70  Signal level=-92 dBm
                    Encryption key:off
                    ESSID:"NETGEAR"
                    Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 11 Mb/s; 22 Mb/s
                    Bit Rates:6 Mb/s; 9 Mb/s; 12 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s; 24 Mb/s
                              36 Mb/s; 48 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s
                    Mode:Master
                    Extra:tsf=00000019ac0148f5
                    Extra: Last beacon: 320ms ago
                    IE: Unknown: 00074E455447454152
                    IE: Unknown: 010582848B962C
                    IE: Unknown: 030106
                    IE: Unknown: 2A0100
                    IE: Unknown: 32080C1218243048606C
el tema son esos IE:Unknown
lo anterior es solo por citar un ejemplo,pero pasa tambien al tratar de
asociarse al cualquier AP ya sea con/sin encriptacion.
Otra cosa que encontrado es :

#dmesg |grep ath
ath5k 0000:07:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0002)
[ 1317.300151] ath5k 0000:07:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16

[ 1317.895645] ath: EEPROM regdomain: 0x0

[ 1317.935520] ath5k phy1: Atheros AR2414 chip found (MAC: 0x79, PHY: 0x45)

llamandome la atencion la ultima linea.

la placa es soportada por el ath5k segun
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/ath5k#Supported_Devices
http://wiki.debian.org/ath5k#supported
