problemas con touchpad en mi portatil dell

Soy nuevo por aqui y espero que me puedan ayudar con algunas cosillas que no logro configurar con mi debian...
para empezar, lo siguiente:
no me funciona el teclado tactil de mi laptop Dell, simplemente se queda paralizado cuando carga gnome.. tengo instalado debian testing 2.6.24
