locales no soportadas?

Hola, porque cada vez que intento instalar con apt-get cuando va a
configurar cosas me dice un mensaje como este: 

perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
        LANGUAGE = (unset),
        LC_ALL = "es_ES",
        LC_MESSAGES = "spanish",
        LANG = "spanish"
    are supported and installed on your system.

utilice el comando castellanizar para pasarlo todo a castellano, y luego
elegi las locales de español, tengo que hacer algo más?

Por ejemplo ahora que utilizo el mozilla y lo invoco desde una terminal
me sale esto:

Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by C library

Tambien tiene que ver? Alguna sugerencia?
