Desde cuando mplayer esta en debian? Trae los codecs de Win32? 
Donde puedo ver info que soporta y que no sporta? 

Bueno por lo de tu pregunta, yo te recomendaría que lo compilaras ya
que no es nada difícil y en teoría te da mejor rendimiento. = )
