Actualizando a woody.

Les comento que estoy actualizando a woody y hasta ahora me ha ido bastante mal
:( lo que hago es:
instalar potato de cero,para luego con el sistema base instalado agregar en el
sources.list las lineas de woody actualizo aproximadamente 18 megas y todo
parece ir de maravillas pues el sistema no manda mensajes de error hasta que
empieza a configurarse la actualizacion y me aparecen estos dialogos (en estos
dialogos posiblemente este el error???):

locale?,para que sirven?..en que afectan el sistema?

finalmente el sistema me tira errores del locale y ni siquiera el vi
funciona,entonces habra alguien con experiencia que me pueda decir que poner
ewn estos dialogos?para que la actualizacion se realiza de forma exitosa.
