Voce diz que o /var/log/Xorg.0.log "aparentemente" não tem erro nenhum? E warnings?
Se você comandar
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep EE
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep WW
qual é o resultado? Não aparece nenhuma pista?
