você ja removeu o tal do /tmp/.X0-lock ?
Outra coisa, pressione as teclas Ctrl+Alt e vá do F1 ao F7. Pode ser que o X ja esteje rodando em um destes terminais.

Olá a todos...
Instalei a 5.0 mas estou com problemas, pois o modo gráfico não
carrega... já dei uma olhada no /var/log/Xorg.0.log e aparentemente
não tem nenhum erro, mas ao executar:
#startx
dá um fatal erro com a seguinte mensagem:
FATAL SERVER ERROR
Server is already active for display 0
If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock anda start again
Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE Keygiving up.
xinit: interrupted sytem call (erro n°4): unable to conect to X server
