Você também poderia tentar dar um "apt-get build-dep postgresql-8.2"
Como temos o Postgresql nos repositórios do debian, com esse comando
você consegue baixar todas as dependências. Eu sempre faço isso quando
quero compilar algo que já existe nos repositórios.

Você vai precisar instalar as bibliotecas necessárias
para compilar o PostgreSQL, você pode buscar pelo nome:
$ aptitude search readline
É possível usar o auto-apt para tentar de ajudar a
achar as bibliotecas necessárias para a inslatação.
